Laura Marzetti

Laura Marzetti is Associate Professor at the Institute for Advanced Biomedical Technologies (ITAB) of the University of Chieti-Pescara Italy since 2015. She moved to the field of neuroscience after a Master degree in biomedical engineering (2000) at the Marche Polytechnic University (Italy) and a PhD in applied physics (2008) at the University of Chieti-Pescara (Italy). During the PhD (2005-2008), she had extensive training on methods for functional connectivity through MEG and EEG and she began to develop new methods in collaboration with Dr. Guido Nolte (UKE Hamburg). During her post-doc (2009-2011), she worked at the University of Chieti with Prof. Maurizio Corbetta, receiving extensive training in the fields of cognitive neuroscience and brain networks. She was among the first scientists who demonstrated the existence of resting state networks with Magnetoencephalography and the frequency specificity of these networks. From 2011 to 2016, she was part of the Magnetoencephalography team of the NIH funded Human Connectome Project (1U54MH091657-0, PI: David Van Essen). More recently, she became head of the laboratory for Methods and Models for Brain Oscillations (MAMBO) at the ITAB institute. She has co-authored more than 50 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals, among which several with a high-impact factor such as in PNAS and Neuron. She has also been invited speaker at prestigious research centres in Europe and has been organizer and speaker at several international conferences (e.g. Biomag, OHBM). Laura Marzetti serves as editor and reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals and funding agencies.
